KOTA KINABALU, May 6, 2018: Voters here deserve a strong voice in Parliament after being neglected by their DAP elected representatives for the past 10 years, Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee said.
Yong, who is among the three contenders for the Kota Kinabalu Parliamentary seat, said he was committed to being a strong voice for Sabahans in Parliament.
(The others were Barisan Nasional’s Dr Henry Lee who contested under the DAP ticket for Putatan in 2013 and Chan Foong Hin of DAP, the former Sri Tanjung State Assemblyman.)
KOTA KINABALU, May 6, 2018: The Sabah Progressive Party is making a final push for its candidates in Kota Kinabalu with gathering at the Foh Sang Shoplots on Monday at 7.30pm.
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) director of operations Melanie Chia said the ceramah would involve party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee who is contesting the Kota Kinabalu Parliamentary seat.
SAPP is also fielding candidates in the Luyang, Api Api and Likas state seats as well as in Kapayan where its candidates are contesting under the STAR logo.
KOTA KINABALU, May 6, 2018: The city needs a proper venue for outdoor concerts instead of allowing such loud events at the Likas Sports Complex car park, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) secretary-general Datuk Richard Yong said.
He said these concerts have been source of inconvenience for nearby housing area residents such as Taman Tuaran and Taman Orchid Villa.
“An outdoor concert loud music till midnight and people living around the Likas Sports Complex will have to put up with the loud music until then,” Richard said on Monday.
KOTA KINABALU, May 5, 2018: The Sabah government must compel the national oil company Petronas to get its approval to continue operating in its territorial waters off the state, economist Zainnal Ajamain said.
He said Sabah, like Sarawak has asserted their rights in the resource-rich territorial waters in the South China Sea by rejecting the Territorial Seas Act 2012 (Act 750).
Zainnal said Sarawak has ordered Petronas to apply for its Mineral Exploration Licence as an implicit way to impose its ownership of the state’s territorial waters.
KOTA KINABALU, May 5, 2018: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad appears to be Pakatan Harapan’s biggest liability in Sabah, going by DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang’s remarks about the Mahathir avoiding Sabah in the election campaign, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) secretary general Datuk Richard Yong said.
This was also the reason why PH’s electoral proxy Parti Warisan is keeping its distance from Mahathir.
